If you install sun protection, roller shutters or a garage door, you benefit from 6% VAT (instead of the usual 21% rate).

The reduced VAT rate applies to both owners and tenants. A few conditions must be met:

• The home must be at least 10 years old and used exclusively or primarily as a private residence.
• Work is carried out by a registered contractor.
• Work must be invoiced directly to the customer.
• Work must concern the residence itself.

The contractor will ask you to sign a declaration confirming the home is at least 10 years old, and can then apply the 6% VAT rate.
