Safety

The Belgian standard NBN EN 12604 — a transposition of the European standard — describes safety measures that apply to all garage door types.

  • Compliant doors have no protruding parts.
  • The door has spring-break protection; cables, rails and hinges are shielded to prevent pinching.
  • Finger protection prevents fingers from being crushed between horizontal panels on sectional doors.
  • For remote-controlled doors, an obstacle-detection system is a must — the door won't close on an obstacle.
  • An anti-lift alarm prevents the door from being forced open with a crowbar.
